10 most educated countries in the world

10. The Netherlands

For such a small country, having eight universities in the top 100 of the best in the world is an impressive achievement! Prospective students can choose from over 2,000 university programs taught in English and enjoy an interactive and youth-oriented learning style.

Many foreign students prefer to study in the Netherlands, and remain in the country after graduation. This is facilitated by various government initiatives. For example, Orientation Year is a graduate employment program.

9. Japan

The Japanese nation is one of the most literate and technically advanced in the world. This is facilitated by a developed education system, with long established traditions and very strict quality standards. Tokyo and Kyoto universities are among the first hundred of the best universities in the world.

A good education is a guarantee that the young Japanese will be able to take their rightful place in society. Therefore, the competition at the most prestigious Japanese universities is so great that journalists even came up with an expression for him - "exam hell."

However, Japan’s education system is often criticized for its focus on educating obedient performers who do not contradict the collective in any way. This approach suppresses students' ability to think independently.

8. Sweden

You have probably heard of Sweden as a great place to relax, but this country offers much more than clean air and picturesque Scandinavian landscapes.

The Swedish educational system is not only one of the oldest, but also one of the most progressive in Europe. Teachers encourage students to think creatively, and there is close collaboration between educational institutions and leading enterprises in different industries. This allows future specialists to gain valuable practical experience while still students.

The largest university in the country is Stockholm University, where more than 50 thousand students study. Once upon a time, Sofia Kovalevskaya taught at the department of mathematics at this university. Diplomas of this, as well as all other Swedish universities are highly regarded throughout the world.

A curious fact: several Nobel laureates (Karl Hjalmar Branting, Nathan Söderblum, Dag Hammarskjöld and others) are graduates of Swedish universities.

7. Switzerland

One of the happiest countries in the world takes a very responsible approach to the issue of quality and accessibility of education. Therefore, it has many prestigious universities. For example, the Swiss Higher Technical School of Zurich ranks 11th among the best universities in the world.

In Swiss educational institutions, critical thinking is welcomed, interactive training and active discussions are conducted.

And during the training break, you can ski in the splendor of the Swiss Alps, and enjoy the most delicious chocolate that you can find!

6. Australia

The house of kangaroos and koalas boasts six universities, included in the top 100 best universities in the world according to Times Higher Education. Students have the opportunity to form their own curriculum. Usually it includes the study of 4-8 academic disciplines and takes at least 40 hours a week.

Due to the difference in the length of study in high school, Russians cannot enter Australian universities immediately after school. It is preliminary necessary to unlearn a year in preparatory courses. They work at most universities in Australia.

5. France

The morale country, famous for the breathtaking French Riviera and the charming Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral, is in the top ten in most ratings of 2019 - from the world's leading economies to the most powerful armies on Earth. Here are the U.S. experts News & World Report ranked France in the top 10 best countries to study abroad.

France has a prestigious education system and more than 3,500 higher education institutions, which is why more and more students see this country as a promising place to study.

4. Germany

In 2018, Germany led the world ranking in the Education Index. For comparison: Russia took 32nd place out of 189 in it, located between Greece and Singapore.

The Index measures the achievements of various states in two ways:

  • Adult Literacy Index.
  • The index of the total share of people receiving primary, secondary and higher education.

And let Germany be inferior to the USA (12th place in the Index) and England (7th place) in the number of the most “authoritative” universities, but surpasses these countries in the number of literate people.

The German educational system is distinguished by a large number of universities (there are 250 in total). For foreigners, admission does not require any special knowledge or privileges. German universities carry out scientific research funded from the federal budget and from enterprises and lands. Young Germans are given interest-free loans for studies, and especially gifted students (and other categories of students) are given scholarships from various foundations.

3. Canada

A country known for its high quality of life and inclusive values, it encourages student activity and curiosity during their studies. Classrooms are discussing a specific topic, which may be new to Russian students. And participation in seminars and activity during classes are evaluated and affect the assessment of performance.

Practical group projects are often held. For example, students may be asked to prepare a presentation and make a presentation to real businessmen who will comment on the work and give grades. As a result, with this approach to learning, students receive practical knowledge that will not be “dead weight”.

2. USA

Seven of the ten best universities in the world are located in the United States. It:

  1. Stanford University.
  2. Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
  3. California Institute of Technology.
  4. Harvard University.
  5. Princeton University.
  6. Yale university.
  7. University of Chicago

Education in one of them is expensive, but incredibly prestigious, which attracts many students from abroad to America. A year of study costs, on average, 40 thousand dollars a year, excluding accommodation in a hostel and household expenses. However, private universities often provide financial assistance (scholarships) to foreign students. It allows you to cover up to 70% of training costs.

An interesting fact: some US universities can delay the choice of faculty for 1-2 courses. This allows the student to be as thoughtful as possible when choosing a profession. Students also have the opportunity to schedule their own, choose subjects, and sometimes teachers.

1. UK

England is rightfully considered the country with the highest level of education. On its territory are some of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Europe - Oxford University, Cambridge University, as well as Imperial College London.

In the English educational system there are no indulgences or special difficulties for foreign students. But there are a lot of advantages, including:

  • diplomas of English universities are highly regarded throughout the world;
  • huge selection of training programs;
  • the opportunity for foreign students to officially work up to 20 hours a week during training and unlimited during the holidays;
  • the opportunity to make useful contacts with students from different countries and get acquainted with international culture;
  • studying in the UK is cheaper than in the USA.

Given all of the above, it is not surprising that many children of Russian officials are sent to study in England.
